On 10 September 2023, near Ka Paing village (Yinmarbin township, Yinmarbin district, Sagaing region), the Myanmar military launched an airstrike using a Mi-35 helicopter gunship at around 12:30 pm without an armed clash occurring. The DVB reported that the airstrike targeted the Pwint Gyi pagoda, and the umbrella crown of the pagoda and some buildings were damaged. The RFA and Kachin News Group reported that the airstrike targeted a school that operates under the NUG. A 20-year-old man who lives near the school sustained injuries, and some school buildings were damaged. Meanwhile, the VOA, BBC News, and Myanmar Now reported that the airstrike targeted a security checkpoint of the PDF located near the Pwint Gyi parking lot, and a member of the PDF sustained injuries.
