On 9 September 2023, in Ye township (Mawlamyine district, Mon state), the Myanmar military IB-61 fired artillery shells and fell into a farm. A 60-years-old farm owner fled from the artillery attack and died of respiratory distress at the Ye township hospital. Local claimed that the military fired artillery shells after the rumors that the People's Defense Force members arrived in the township.
