On 9 September 2023, in Lay Ein Su village (Phyu township, Taungoo district, Bago-East region), the Myanmar military stationed in Oak Hpyat village bridge fired artillery shells, which fell into the village and killed two civilians. A 37-year-old father was killed with injuries to the chest and waist and a 5-year-old child was killed with an injury to the head.
