On 9 September 2023, in Let Ku village (Palaw township, Myeik district, Tanintharyi region), the Myanmar military IB-285 based in Palaw township and four battleships anchored in the sea fired eight 120 mm artillery shells without the presence of battle, fell into the village and a 23-year-old man was killed with an injury to the stomach around 9:30 am. Another five locals including a 3-years-old child were injured, one of the women was severely injured and sent to the Palaw hospital for treatment. Other source, Myanmar Now, reported that a man who was killed from artillery was 36-year-old and four other civilians including a woman and a six-year-old child were the ones who sustained injuries.
