SAA event in West Kordofan, Al Adiya area, Sudan on Wed 20th September 2023

At least one person was killed, police buildings were burned, and weapons stores were looted in an attack carried out by a Rapid Support Force on the city of Al-Adiya, West Kordofan State, on Wednesday morning.

Sources told Radio Dabanga that the Rapid Support Force, aboard 19 four-wheel-drive vehicles and motorcycles, carried out an attack on the city of El Adhya at around five in the morning on Wednesday.

The sources revealed that the attacking force burned the buildings of the police forces, destroyed their records, and looted weapons stores. They were also able to release the prisoners detained pending investigation and justice.

The sources indicated that the army in the Idiya garrison repulsed the attack and destroyed five rapid support vehicles before they left and were stationed outside the city. The attack also led to the death of a citizen as a result of a stray gunshot wound, in addition to deaths among the ranks of the fighters, and it was not possible to know their numbers.

According to the sources, military reinforcements from the army arrived from the city of Al-Fula and another from the city of Babanusa for support.
