A former Border Security Force (BSF) trooper, identified as Sukhlal Purty, was shot dead by suspected cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) in Kashijoda village under Kadamdiha Panchayat (village level local self-Government institution) in West Singhbhum District of Jharkhand on September 8 on the suspicion of being a ‘police informer’, reports Devdiscourse. A group of Maoists allegedly barged into Purty's house and killed him. Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashutosh Shekhar confirmed the incident, saying Purty had taken voluntary retirement from the BSF and was leading a normal life. The SP suspected that the incident was the handiwork of the left-wing ultras, as some leaflets were recovered from the spot.
