On 8 September 2023, in Pekon township (Taunggyi district, Shan-South state), the Myanmar military conducted airstrikes three times on Saung Hpway IDP camp with a fighter jet around 1:10 pm. The military dropped five bombs and fell into a corn farm that was 50 feet away from the IDP camp building. Local claimed that the military conducted airstrikes without the presence of armed clashes. There were no casualties as IDPs were able to take shelter in bunkers.
