On 4 September 2023, PKK militants carried out a remote explosive attack targeting Turkish soldiers in Gire Cudi area in Al Amadiya district, Duhok. HPG claimed 4 Turkish soldiers were killed in the attack but other sources did not confirm this (claimed fatalities coded as 0).
