13th September 2023
This Wednesday, September 13, 2023, an improvised explosive device (IED) was discovered in the town of Ansongo, a town located 90 km southeast of Gao, on the Niger River. According to local sources, children out for a walk spotted an improvised explosive device (IED) in the courtyard of Ansongo's "1A" school. This happened in the morning.
The forces of law and order were alerted, and sent in a special team to destroy the IED. FAMA military engineers destroyed the IED without causing any damage.
We ask the population to collaborate with Mali's armed defense and security forces to help them in their fight against obscurantist forces.
