[...]Just yesterday, the enemies of peace attacked army camps in Bourem, 90 km from the town of Gao. According to local sources, the assailants began attacking the town's two military camps very early in the morning. The Defense and Security Forces quickly responded with a lightning response. In a well-coordinated move, the ground and air forces retaliated against the assailants.

According to our sources, "aerial vectors carried out strikes which caused significant damage to the enemy". According to information not officially confirmed by the military authorities, the drones spotted and destroyed around twenty vehicles belonging to the attackers.

Concordant sources confirm that numerous enemy fighters were neutralized during the clashes. The invaders, in disarray in the face of the Army's strike force, abandoned a large consignment of war materiel. Numerous lifeless bodies of enemy combatants were visible in the city streets.

Photos of shredded and charred bodies of enemy fighters circulated on social networks throughout the day. As did photos of the attackers' vehicles reduced to wreckage by the air strikes. Needless to say, the turn of events in favor of our valiant soldiers has lifted the spirits of our compatriots, stunned by the recent atrocities committed by these criminal hordes on both civilians and soldiers. Malians are reacting with pride and satisfaction.

The beating inflicted on the assailants has been hailed as it should be. "Bourem: an open-air cemetery for the enemy. Long live the FAMa"; "All behind the FAMa"; "Bourem: the CMA has been routed, leaving behind the bodies of the kids it has manipulated into a dirty war for 10 years"; "our support for our Defense and Security Forces is unwavering. It is unwavering and unequivocal. May God protect them and help them in their fight against the faceless enemy!"

Witnesses are unanimous in saying that the response of the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) was energetic and professional. From morning until mid-day, the Army's aerial vectors carried out bombardments on the positions of enemy fighters who were trying to escape after the failure of their operation to occupy the town of Bourem. From the very first hours of the attack on FAMa positions in Bourem, their supporters began to bluster on social networks, spreading information that was far from the reality on the ground.

During the fighting, the town's inhabitants locked themselves in their homes. All the Army's holdings are entirely under its control. The town was completely sealed off to prevent camouflaged attackers from escaping. While they were suffering a rout in Bourem, the enemies of peace were spreading rumors of an imminent attack in the town of Gao. Tensions rose yesterday in the City of Askia, where security was stepped up at certain public services.

In addition, the Chief of the Armed Forces General Staff, Major General Oumar Diarra, accompanied by a large delegation, visited the Firhoun Ag Alançar camp in Gao on Sunday, following a vehicle bomb attack on September 8, which left ten Malian Armed Forces personnel dead or wounded, the Army said in a statement on its Facebook page. This trip by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the statement said, is part of the condolences and tributes to be paid to the illustrious dead who fought valiantly with weapons in hand, and wishes for a speedy recovery to the wounded.
