On 31 August 2023, in Saw Hki Daw village (Loikaw township, Loikaw district, Kayah state), the Myanmar military LIB-422 based in Moe Bye town fired artillery rounds into the village at around 10:30 am without an armed clash occurring. Two artillery shells landed in the village, killing a 38-year-old woman with a disability on the spot. Another 47-year-old male teacher sustained injuries and later died at the hospital, while another woman also sustained injuries.
