On 22 August 2023, in Nam Ya village (Hpakant township, Mohnyin district, Kachin state), artillery shells fired by the Myanmar military based in the Kamaing outpost, Nam Ya outpost and Nant Tain outpos during a clash with the KIA landed in the village at around 3 pm. A woman sustained injuries in her thigh and some houses were damaged.
