On 18 August 2023, presumed US forces (describe as international forces) and government security forces (SNA) conducted an airstrike targeting Al Shabaab hideout in Cali Fuuto village near Kurtunwaarey town (Kurtunwaarey, Lower Shabelle). More than 20 militants were killed.
