On 14 August 2023, two Remote Control IEDs planted by Al Shabaab detonated, targeting ATMIS UPDF convoy troops on foot patrol from Shalambood heading to Danow village (Marka, Lower Shabelle). Al Shabaab claimed killing three soldiers.
