On 16 August 2023, near Wea Ma Gyi village of Shwegu township (Bhamo district, Kachin state), joint forces of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and People's Defense Force - Myohla fired 107 mm and 40 mm heavy artillery shells against nine Myanmar military's ships at around 7 am. Three rounds of the shelling hit two military ships. Casualties unknown.
