On 14 August 2023, in Kale town (Kale township, Kale district, Sagaing region), a 39-year-old man stepped on a landmine while he was cleaning trash near the Joy restaurant located near a railway intersection on Bogyoke Road in Tat-U Thi Dar ward at around 8 am. The man died after sustaining injuries in both legs.
