On 12 August 2023, regime fighters and pro-Iranian militia stationed in the Harabish military airport targeted a Global Coalition air force base with two missiles which fell on the Euphrates river bank opposite the base in the Hwaijet Saker area in Deir ez Zor province. There were no casualties. The event took place after Global Coalition aircraft flew at low altitude over areas adjacent to pro-Iranian militia areas of control in the province.
