On 10 August 2023, suspected Boko Haram [JAS faction] militants planted a RPIED which Nigerian troops drove over near Banki town (Bama, Borno). The soldiers were part of a convoy escorting commuters, two soldiers and three civilians were killed, Seven women were abducted, other sources report that two soldiers were also abducted, six trailers and one soldiers' truck were set ablaze and one GPMG was stolen.
