The city of Cúcuta, at around 5:30 a.m., woke up in fear and anxiety after the appearance of several devices suspected to contain explosives left by the National Liberation Army (ELN) in different points of the metropolitan area of Cúcuta. Among the objects found was a cylinder near a shopping mall, as well as guerrilla flags. Three of the devices were found in the urban area, while the remaining two were located in rural areas. One of the cylinders was left on the Anillo Vial Oriental, with the colors of the ELN flag and acronym. According to local newspaper La Opinión, two possible explosive devices were found at the entrance to the village of Aguaclara in Cúcuta and in the sector known as El 57, near the entrance to Puerto Santander. Since the early hours of the morning, the Cúcuta Police and its experts in explosives deactivation have been in charge of the situation, working hard to evaluate each of the threats and guarantee the safety of the citizens.
