On August 5, three civilians belonging to the Meitei community who were sleeping in their homes, including a father-son duo identified asYumnam Pishak Meitei (70) and his son Yumnam Premjit (37)and Yumnam Jiten Meitei (54), were killed by suspected Kuki militants at Kwakta Lamkhai Ward No VIII under the jurisdiction of Phougakchao Ikhai Police Station in Bishnupur District of Manipur, reports Imphal Free Press. Sources stated that at least five suspected Kuki militants were killed in the retaliatory fire by State Forces and armed village volunteers.|On August 5, ‘chief’ of the Kuki Independent Army (KIA) identified as Thangkhongam Haokip alias Davidson alias Pareng Kom and another cadre of KIA identified as Johny Guite was found killed at Chawangphai at Thangjing Range in Churachandpur District of Manipur, reports The Sangai Express.|On August 5, six civilians identified as Khangembam Bina, Olen Meitei,Maira Paibi, Khangenbam Bina Devi, L Lalmani and Mohammad Rahaman and one Manipur Police Commando identified as Paonam Apollo sustained injuries in separate incidents of violence in Kwakta area of Bishnupur District, reports The Sanghai Express.
