On 2 August 2023, a landmine war remnant planted by unidentified gunmen near a school in al Basrawi village in rural Jurneyyeh in Ar Raqqa province detonated, killing five people including at least three women and a child who are all members of the same family and injuring several others The event took place after a child found the mine while playing and brought it to his house where it detonated, killing him, his mother, grandmother and aunt and injuring others including his sister. 5 fatalities.
