On 3 August 2023, in U Saw Kyun village (Katha township, Katha district, Sagaing region), Myanmar military troops in nine vessels traveling on the Irrawaddy River fired artillery rounds into nearby areas in the afternoon. An artillery shell landed on a house and killed a 10-year-old girl.
