On 3 August 2023, in Kani town (Kani township, Yinmarbin district, Sagaing region), combined troops of Kani People's Defense Force, People's Defense Force - Yinmarbin district 21,22,23 attacked the Myanmar military and police at the Kani police station around 8 am. The combined troops attacked with four bombs attached to a drone while a birthday party was celebrating inside the police station with around 100 members of the military and police attending. The Police Station Officer and Surveillance Officer were killed. Township Police Officer, a policewoman, and two family members were injured. Irradwaddy reported that three police including a station officer and two family members of the police sustained injuries.
