IED event in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Khar town in Bajaur District area, Pakistan on Sun 30th July 2023

At least 46 people, including a Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) local leader, were killed and more than 100 sustained injuries in a suicide blast at the JUI-F workers' convention on Shanday Morr near the NADRA office in Khar town of Bajaur District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) at around 4pm on July 30, reports Geo News. The blast that took place during the speech of a JUI-F leader Maulana Laeeq. KP Inspector General of Police (IGP) Akhtar Hayat Khan confirmed that the blast was a suicide attack. He added that 10 kilograms of explosives were used in the blast and ball bearings were found from the crime scene. JUI-F KP spokesperson Abdul Jalil Khan said that JUI-F Member of National Assembly (MNA) Maulana Jamaluddin and Senator Abdul Rasheed were also present during the convention. He confirmed that one of the dead includes JUI-F’s Tehsil Khar Amir Maulana Ziaullah. Though no outfit so far claimed responsibility for the blast, the District Police Officer (DPO) Nazir Khan said initial probe shows that Daesh was involved.
