Security Force (SF) personnel exchanged fire with cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) during an anti-Naxal [Left Wing Extremism, LWE] operation launched to check Maoist activities during 'martyrs' week', in a forest area near Chhote Kedwal village under Chintagufa and Kistaram Police Station limits in Sukma District in Chhattisgarh on July 29, reports The Economic Times. Personnel belonging to the state police's District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the elite Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were involved in the operation, a Police official said. Maoists observe 'martyrs' week' from July 28 to August 3 to mark the deaths of their colleagues in action.
