On July 29, a suspected cadre of the independent faction of the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA-I) identified as Juman Bora was injured in Police firing in Tinsukia District of Assam, reports Northeast Now. Police sources stated that the suspect was taken to Lakhipathar in Tinsukia District in search of explosives hidden in a forest. When he tried to flee, Police open fired on him. Based on information provided by Bora, Assam Police recovered a huge cache of explosives belonging to ULFA-I in Digboi in Tinsukia District. The seized explosives include: eight Plastic Explosive Kirke (PEKs), a detonator and six batteries. The explosives were found in a Village close to the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Gopeneri Bottling plant, which is a potential target for insurgents. Two people were arrested in connection with the recovery.
