On 23 July 2023, in Kyauktaga township (Bago district, Bago-East region), an unknown resistance group destroyed No.2 transmission tower that transmits electricity to a substation in Thar Yar Kone village on Kyauktaga-Thahtaykone road with remote explosives around 11:35 pm, destroying two 230 KV power distribution towers. Locals claimed that the power distribution towers were part of the military's project to sell electricity to China and they were destroyed after the Military's artillery attack killed four civilians in Kyauktaga township (coded separately). According to Eleven Media, the Myanmar police reported that the KNLA and the PDF blew up the towers.
