On 25 July 2023, in Byant Gyi village of Salingyi township (Yinmarbin district, Sagaing region), unidentified local defense forces attacked a Myanmar military column of about 100 troops with around 28 mines in three areas as the military headed towards the villages for the raid. Around 20 military soldiers were killed and several injured.
