On 17 July 2023, in Ka Yar Kone village (Kawlin township, Kawlin district, Sagaing region), the Myanmar military stationed at the General Administration Department in Kawlin town fired artillery rounds indiscriminately into the village at around 10 pm. An artillery shell landed on a house and injured six family members. The VOA reported the date as 17 July, while Khit Thit Media reported it as 16 July.
