On 17 July 2023, in Budalin town of Budalin township (Monywa district, Sagaing region), heavy artillery shells fired by the Myanmar military troops landed near the NLD party office at around 10:30 am. The shelling killed a 78-year-old woman and injured five others. The other source, Eleven Media, reported that the shelling injured eleven civilians, including three students who were under 10-years-old.
