On 19 July 2023, in Thet Pay village (Khin-U township, Shwebo district, Sagaing region), the Myanmar military stationed at the traditional medicine hospital in Ye-U town fired rounds of 120mm mortar into the village at around 11:45 am. A six-year-old child was killed, and five other family members including a 47-year-old man sustained injuries. Myanmar Now and the RFA reported that the injured man died while receiving medical treatment. Other sources, VOA and Radio Free Asia reported that 3 locals were killed. Fatalities coded as 3 using the latest report.
