IED event in Arauca, Tame area, Colombia on Fri 21st July 2023

On 21 July 2023, in the rural area of Tame municipality (Arauca), a car bomb was detonated next to a military base in the El Naranjito sector, on the road that goes to Casanare department, injuring between four and eight soldiers. Two people who were inside the vehicle at the moment it exploded, who would be the perpetrators of the attack, were killed. Authorities believe that the car bomb went off earlier than it was supposed to, before the perpetrators managed to get off the vehicle. However, other versions indicate that the intention of the perpetrators was to immolate themselves. There is presence of the ELN and FARC dissident groups in the area. 2 fatalities.
