A deputy commandant of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)s elite Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) battalion, Deepak Kumar Tiwari, was injured in an encounter with cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) in Rela Paral Pahad under Goilkera Police Station limits in West Singhbhum District of Jharkhand on July 12, reports The Print. When the personnel of the CoBRA battalion, Jharkhand Jaguar (JJ), and the District Armed Police (DAP) were on combing operations in areas affected by the Left Wing Extremists (LWEs), the Maoists opened fire on the Security Forces (SFs), which was returned, Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashutosh Shekhar said. Three powerful Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were recovered from the encounter spot. The security personnel also recovered a five-kilogramme IED from Rela Paral on July 11.
