On 8 July 2023, in Mindat township (Mindat district, Chin state), the Myanmar military launched airstrikes with a fighter jet three times and dropped two 500lb bombs and four cluster bombs on Vung Khung village and fired with rockets and 0.5 mm bullets at around 11:20 am without an armed clash occurring. The military IB-274 based in Mindat town also fired artillery rounds into the village during the airstrikes. Three people, including a nine-year-old girl, a 28-year-old nursing mother and a 65-year-old woman, were killed. Another 50-year-old man sustained injuries, and a school and ten houses were damaged by airstrikes and artillery shells.
