On 11 July 2023, in Kale town (Kale township, Kale district, Sagaing region), military forces fired heavy weapons and an artillery shell exploded near the No 14 basic education school in the Taung Phi Lar ward, killing a 50-year-old woman and injuring her brother. Shwe Phee Myay News Agency reported two locals were injured.
