On 6 July 2023, an IED planted by Al Shabaab, detonated targeting government security forces (Danab/Bancroft/Gorgor) and US forces convoy travelling in between Harbole and (Birta Dheer) Jana Cabdalle village (Afmadow, Lower Juba). Al Shabaab claimed killing 12 soldiers and injuring three US soldiers. AFRICOM denied any causalities for their soldiers.
