On 28 June 2023, in Wan Aung (Kayah) village of Hpasawng township (Bawlake district, Kayah state), the Myanmar military forces carried out an attack using airstrikes and artillery shells on the village and killed a 50-year-old local civilian. The attack also destroyed ten houses in the village.
