On 26 June 2023, Russian forces shelled near Berestove, Kharkiv, with mortars and artillery. According to Russian sources, on that day, around 30 Ukrainian soldiers were killed near Krasne Pershe, Synkivka, Berestove, Novoselivske, Stelmakhivka and Ohirtseve (30 fatalities split across 6 locations and coded as 5).
