On 17 June 2023, in Chaung Hnit Khwa village (Thandaunggyi township, Hpa-An district, Kayin state), the Myanmar military fired artillery rounds into the village at 8:15 am, following a clash with the KNLA and the PDF (under the NUG) in the morning. A 60-year-old woman was killed and a 38-year-old man was injured by artillery shells.
