On 21 June 2023, in Hpasawng town of Hpasawng township (Bawlake district, Kayah state), heavy artillery shells fired by the Myanmar military troops landed in No.135 ward located in the south of Hpasawng town at around 4 pm. The shelling injured two civilians, a Buddhist Monk and an internally displaced person (IDP).
