Summary: An unexploded bomb that had been buried underneath the pebble beach at Slapton in Devon was discovered on Saturday as the beach was washed away. It came a day after an unexploded mine washed up on Slapton Sands as the area was ravaged by Storm Emma. The first device to be found was identified as a US M1A1 anti-tank mine by local group Plymouth At War. A large part of the beach was cordoned off by the Coastguard and the public were warned to steer clear. Kingsbridge Police said: 'Police and Coastguard now dealing with possible ordnance at Torcross. Please doubly stay away!' The bomb squad was called on Friday, and the device was destroyed in a controlled explosion, Devon Live reported. Mail Online later reported that the second bomb was unearthed on Saturday, though it was unclear whether it belonged to Allied or German forces.
