A large part of the beach was cordoned off by the Coastguard and the public were warned to steer clear. Kingsbridge Police said: 'Police and Coastguard now dealing with possible ordnance at Torcross. Please doubly stay away!' The bomb squad was called on Friday, and the device was destroyed in a controlled explosion, Devon Live reported. Mail Online later reported that the second bomb was unearthed on Saturday, though it was unclear whether it belonged to Allied or German forces.
