Rocket event in Sagaing, Kanbalu area, Myanmar on Tue 11th April 2023

On 11 April 2023, in Pa Zi Gyi village (Kanbalu township, Kanbalu district, Sagaing region), the military conducted an airstrike on the new People's Administration Team (PaAhPha) opening event, attended by about 200 people, including the People's Security Forces (PaLaPha), PDFs (under the NUG), village administration officials (under the NUG) and locals. During the airstrikes, the military dropped two rockets from a Mi35 aircraft (coming from Tada-U township) and also opened fire from a Jet Fighter (coming from the North Western Command Headquarters in Monywa township) at least four times on the office. Mizzima, Ministry of Defense - NUG, Myanmar Now, Radio Free Asia, Myanmar Labor News, Kachin News Group, DVB, and VOA reported that the death toll reached to 168 people as of 14 April 2023 morning. The military also conducted an airstrike a second time in the same area by dropping 12 bombs and opening fire from a Jet Fighter at around 5:23 pm. VOA reported that there were no casualties in the second attempt.
