On 12 April 2023, in Tay village (Saw township, Gangaw district, Magway region), the Kyaukhtu based military artillery battalion fired heavy weapons at the village without an armed clash occurring at 4:30 pm and the shells hit and killed a 33-year-old man and injured two other people including a man and a woman. The deceased was a mechanic from the Na Thoe village.
