On 13 April 2023, in Kywei Pon village (Sagaing township, Sagaing district, Sagaing region), the State Administration Council reported that an unknown people's defense force caried out a drone attack on the Thingyan water festival pavilion located within the Basic Education Middle School compound at 5:45 pm. Eight people including military soldiers, Pyu Saw Htee members and five children were killed, and about 30 people were injured. Other source Myanmar Now reported that about seven people were killed, and about 30 others were injured. Fatalities coded as 7, using the lowest estimate.
