On 13 April 2023, in Letpadan town (Letpadant township, Thayarwady district, Bago-West region), a bomb explosion occurred near the Thingyan water pavilion at around 5:45 am. At about 6:30 am, another bomb explosion occurred near the police station. People's Defense Force - Shwe Tan Myay claimed responsbility for the explosions, saying they did it as a warning against the Thingyan water festival held by the military. There were no casualties.
