JAMMU, Apr 17: A day after an unexploded shell of 1999 war killed a teenager and injured two others after they fiddled with it, Army today defused seven more shells in Kurbathang area of Kargil. Army launched the sanitization operation in Kurbathang following yesterday’s blast, this morning and detected seven shells with the help of local people which were defused. Local area expert from village Pashkum Shabir Hussain Fayyaz, naturalist/herbalist and a social worker volunteered with the Bomb Disposal Squad of the Army to identify exact locations. BDC Pashkum Zakir Hussain hailed Lieutenant Governor Brig (Retd) BD Mishra for taking prompt action for sanitization of the area. He also thanked the officers of Engineering Regiment and Mountain Division of the Indian Army for conducting whole operation through the Bomb Disposal Squad. Meanwhile, condition of two teenage boys, who were injured in yesterday’s blast, remained stable. The dead was buried with large number of people attending the burial procession.
