29th March 2023
Ille-et-Vilaine: An 800 kg bomb is to be neutralised at sea off Dinard. The device weighs just over 800 kg. A German bomb with a magnetic trigger dating from the Second World War will be neutralised on Thursday by the specialised mine clearance services near Dinard and Saint-Malo (Ille-et-Vilaine). The operation, scheduled between 8am and 12pm, will take place at sea, off the coast of Saint-Briac-sur-Mer. A large security perimeter will be set up on the water, as well as on the coast, and will be monitored by the police. The bomb is currently located at a depth of 30 m, north of Agot Island. It was discovered at the end of January by a French Navy ship. The experienced crew of the Brest clearance divers will be in charge of the delicate manoeuvre.
