On 3 April 2023, Albu Saraya tribal militia members attacked a pro-Iranian militia point where tribal members were being detained in the Wadi Abu Taniter area on the outskirts of Ayyash in Deir ez Zor province with weapons, freeing them. Earlier that day, the men were detained after an IED planted by unknown gunmen in a Fatemiyoun Brigade (Pro-Iran militia)-affiliated pick-up truck detonated in Ayyash, killing 4 and injuring several others and causing material damage to a nearby bus. Pro-Iranian militia accused Albu Saraya tribal militia of conducting the attack, and initiated a security campaign in the community, detaining Albu Saraya tribal militia members. 4 fatalities.
