On 7 April 2023, an IED planted by Al Shabaab detonated, targeting government security forces (SNA) and Hawadle clan militia convoy in the vicinity of Maxamed Hasan village (Belet Weyne, Hiraan). One clan militia was killed. Al Shabaab claimed responsibility.
