On 5 April 2023, in Kyaukkyi township (Taungoo district, Bago-East region), the Myanmar military LID-77 based in Sin Ma Taung, Chay Taw Yan and Seik Gyi villages fired artillery rounds towards nearby villages including Pay Tu and Sat Le villages. Five locals including an 11-year-old and a 13-year-old children were injured by artillery shells fired by the military in two days (4-5 April). Villagers were forced to flee their villages.
